I feel the same way!
I remember giving my best friend a copy of the epilogue. We decided that if it was for real, we'd vomit. As we stood in line at K Mart with our books, we flipped to the end and got rather upset.
I guess I realised that I'm an adult reading a kid's book and that I have other things in my life to care about. But I was still upset that a series I'd grown up with ended in a way I found quite lacking and uninspired.
It honestly sort of ruined the series for me, so I pretend it doesn't exist.
That's about my take on it.
Heh... in denial (?) here...
i'm still working out ways Severus could have lived... after all, it only says he "stopped moving"... He was definitely smart enough to be prepared with anti-venin and blood replenishing and other such potions.
i imagine he got up after everyone deserted him, looked around, said "right!" and decided to take a permanent vacation!
i thought the book was amazing up until the whole big battle bit.
it was so...bleh i guess.
so i joyfully read it up until the battle, then i prepare myself to read the battle and there's no epiloge in my book.
i pretend it's not there, because if i believe hard enough, it'll come true.
if i weren't against defacing books i would've ripped out those last few pages A LONG ASS TIME AGO.
What ending did you past into your book, would you share the link?
You know, I actually snagged it off the IMDB movie boards, so the only link I had to it was that actual post, which is long gone now.
If you post your email address, I can send you the word document of it that I saved. The only issue is.... I have no idea who wrote it. lol.
That would be great, thanks.
I think that should work, although we are in the middle of a switch over to roadrunner. So, if it doesn't try replacing the adelphia.net to roadrunner.com
Again, thanks. I need a better epilogue.
I just sent an email to both of the emails you provided to be safe, lol, so check your mail! =)
The seventh book has just changed my perspective of the books. :/ The HP books were part of my childhood, so my love for them will never really be gone... but as for the story itself, it's been ruined for me. D: It's easy pretending the epilogue didn't happen, but personally, I hated the entire book, so the whole series takes a hit. :/
How'd I cope? ... Fanfic. Mucho fanfic. Oh, and denial. I think I'm going to need the archives of fic to get past this crap.
This picture might ease the annoyance some:

Feel free to spread the love. :-)
Oh, that's such a pretty image! :D
Crapilogue + Firey Death= OTP!
Although book burning has always been upsetting to me, I'll make an exception for one copy and one tiny insignificant section.
I was so disappointed it started to turn me off the fandom. There's still a lot a like, especially in the first few books, but that ending was a piece of crap. If I had actually paid money for that junk, I would have taken a boxcutter and cut the epilogue out, but having an inkling of what was coming, I just got the book from the library.
Book 7 ruined the series for me. FU, Harry Potter. =D
said, "Sometimes, the author gets it wrong." I try to think of that as being what happened with HP on a number of counts, esp. the last 2 books. So much of the fan fiction novelizations in anticipation years ahead were better than what JKR (pronounced Joker) wrote.
7 blank pages? hasn't she heard of the environonononment???//
Wouldnt have got away with that with the "Wartime economy standard" books from the 40's i read XD
